7 Stage Success with Carl L Gould, Video Blog / No Comments
Using video chat has transformed how you can communicate with another person. We are consistently using various video services to conduct training programs, business mentoring sessions, life coaching sessions, executive coaching sessions and board meetings to name a few. While video chat does have its limitations, it does provide some of the same benefits that you would get if you were sitting in the room with the other person. Using this medium, you can read their body language, see their facial expressions as if you were in the room with them. As a matter of fact, since they know they are watching you video chat increases their focus since they have to be looking straight at their computer screen. Less distractions!
I love using video chat but it does have its limitations! The success (or not) of the session is reliant on everybody’s technology and internet connections. On many occasions one of the above can let you down. Try it out for yourself. There are many free services that you can use and watch your business grow.

Did you know that nearly ¾ of the words in the English language that describe emotion are negative? According to research the average person experiences 12 emotions in a given week, with only a few of those positive. It’s no wonder that people have a difficult time maintaining a positive attitude when most of the people around them are negative. Maintaining a positive attitude when you’re surrounded by rude, negative or difficult people is one of the most difficult things a person does on any given day.
Self awareness the first step in remaining positive. The people that surround us every day are much like mirrors into our own personality. In every person you find there is something to like and something to dislike; something to love and something to hate; something that is positive and something that is negative. Remember that we decide what constitutes “rude, negative and difficult”. We determine the meaning of the communication we receive from others. In other words, what is negative to one person could be positive to another. People are mirrors in that they remind of us of the best part of ourselves and the worst part of yourselves. Have you ever head the questions, “it takes one to know one”? If you feel you are surrounded by rude, negative and difficult people, you need to check in with yourself and acknowledge how YOU might be being rude, negative and difficult to them.
How do you break this pattern? How do you remain positive? Ask yourself, “what’s great about this?” whenever a particularly challenging situation arises. Focus on what you can learn and how you can grow as a result of being around this person. When you are around a difficult person, try to understand from their perspective what they may be going through that is causing their mood.
In the end though, kill them with kindness. You attract a lot more bees with honey. It is difficult for a difficult person to remain difficult when you are not playing along. Remember that if you stop running another person can no longer chase you. In other words don’t participate in their negativity, and they will soon either come over to the positive side or leave.
Create an environment around you that supports your positive attitude. Hang photos, bring in plants and flowers, post awards and letters of recommendation, motivational and inspirational quotes that will feed your positive side.
Have a positively amazing day!
